Bimillenary of Augustus
For the two thousandth anniversary of the death of Augustus, a series of educational events are scheduled in the most important Augustan monuments designed both for visitors and school groups, as well as exhibitions, a conference at the Ara Pacis and an equally appealing show held in the Forum of Augustus.
EDUCATIONAL EVENTS
A series of educational events has been scheduled in the most important Augustan monuments designed both for visitors and school groups:
Visitors:
A series of guided tours are scheduled starting from May 2014 on Saturdays and Sundays in the most important Augustan monuments managed by the Sovrintendenza Capitolina. These visits will help to understand the indelible mark of conquest and civilization left by Augustus in the then known world.
School groups:
The Sovrintendenza Capitolina in collaboration with Zètema Progetto Cultura and cultural associations have developed a program of educational tours to the monuments of the Augustan city. The project "La scuola adotta un monumento" will also be affected by the two thousandth anniversary celebration: the Project's 2013/15 edition was opened in the hall of the Museum of Roman Civilization dedicated to Augustus.
EXHIBITIONS
The scheduled exhibitions will delve into two fundamental aspects of the figure of Augustus: his role both in the creation of a complex program of political propaganda, that will be a model for future generations, and in the urban transformation of the old city. The two exhibitions will be organized with the support of Zetema Progetto Cultura.
CONFERENCE ON THE MAUSOLEUM OF AUGUSTUS
The conference will present and disseminate new figures that have come as a result of the excavations and surveys carried out on the Mausoleum of Augustus in recent years.
